Psychological interventions and support
Psychological therapies
Please note that access to psychological therapies such as CBT, counselling, and EMDR is subject to a suitability assessment. As this is a work-related service, referrrals must relate to difficulties impacting you at work or arising from your work. Completing a referral form does not guarantee access to a specific therapy; all referrals will be screened to ensure the most appropritate support is offered.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a talking therapy which examines thoughts, behaviours and physical symptoms which lead to people being stuck in vicious cycles. It is most commonly used for people suffering from anxiety and depression and engagement is vital to meet the desired outcomes from this kind of therapy.
Counselling
Counselling aims to provide individuals with a safe and confidential space to explore personal issues, emotions, and behaviours. It is a collaborative process aimed at enhancing mental health and wellbeing, addressing specific problems, and fostering personal growth.
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is a type of therapy that helps people to recover from the effects of trauma. It is different to other more traditional talking therapies as it focuses less on discussing the details of the traumatic events.
Psycho-educational groups
Please note that access to groups such as sleep and ACT is subject to a suitability assessment. As this is a work-related service, referrrals must relate to difficulties impacting you at work or arising from your work. Completing a referral form does not guarantee access to a specific group; all referrals will be screened to ensure the most appropritate support is offered.

Support for individuals, teams and organisations
The Hub offers the following support:
Schwartz Rounds
Schwartz Rounds provide a unique forum for clinical and non-clinical staff to come together, share stories, and reflect on the emotional and social challenges of their work. These sessions focus on creating a safe, supportive environment - not solving problems or discussing clinical details.
Schwartz Rounds are held locally within each region (Place) and at a broader level for the whole West Yorkshire Integrated Care System.

Avoidable Employee Harm project
West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership is working to avoid harm in employee investigations through a new pilot programme. The initiative is delivered as a partnership between the West Yorkshire Staff Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub and NHS Wales. The pilot was inspired by the work developed in NHS Wales.
The focus on avoiding harm in employee investigations has subsequently been taken up by the Health Care People Management (HPMA) who published the 'When we do harm' paper. The programme draws on learning from the patient safety movement and the below animation video highlights the importance of the work by changing culture and approah to ensure formal processes are always the last resort.
Find out more about the avoidable harms project on the Partnership website. Contact us on our enquiry form if you would like support with implementing avoidable harm in your organisation.
